National meeting - Opportunities

The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty. Winston Churchill.

Dear members of AIESEC in Iceland.
When November is ending it means new times are coming. New month full of excitement, joy and opportunities.
Members of AIESEC in Iceland have been getting into their roles, learning more about the organization and seeing the possibilities there are in AIESEC. Members are starting to see the benefits of being in AIESEC.

Because of these new times, AIESEC in Iceland is going to have a national meeting for all members of AIESEC in Iceland.
It will be held in Askja ( in University of Iceland area )next Wednesday, 28th November.
The meeting will start at 17:30 and end at 18:30.
I hope to see everyone at the meeting, talking about AIESEC, opportunities and what comes next for members of AIESEC in Iceland.

We will have externals at the meeting so please come on time so we can quit on time.

Please confirm your attendance by replying to thordis03@ru.is as well as let me know if you will not be able to attend. I hope all of you will look at this meeting as a great way to learn more about AIESEC, meet new people and just have fun.

I started this mail with this qoute about opportunities because there are always opportunities for us in AIESEC, it's up to us to find them and grab them when they knock on our doors.
This meeting is a platform for you all to find out what you want to get out of AIESEC, how you can grab the opportunity and learn from people that have gone through that experience before.

See you all on Wednesday at 17:30

Thanks for the year - looking forward to the next one!

It's weird how fast times flies.

It's already 7 days in my second MCP term and I feel good about how AIESEC in Iceland is developing.

I want to write here a little about my experience so far, my team mates the term 0607 and my vision for AIESEC in Iceland.

I started my term not knowing really what to do and how to run the organization. I was feeling excited but also a little nervous. I had one team mate with me - svetla - and she and I started to do what needed to be done.
After the time passed I got more confident, going to meetings, talking to companies and students, planning and executing conferences and attend international conferences.
It was a great time.
Ali came to Iceland in beginning of August and then recruitment started to have some picture.
My team mates gave me big support when I needed it, they really loved what they were doing and that motivated me during the year.
When I decieded to apply again as MCP my thoughts were about the future, what I want to see for AIESEC in Iceland and what I still want to learn as a person that AIESEC in Iceland would be able to give me.
I'm very pleased to be the MCP for 2 years in a row and I feel I am growing as a person with every task I take, every student I speak to and every result I get. And that's what AIESEC is all about.

I hope you will also experience this amazing feeling, to tell people you are the president of an international organization based in Iceland, that you are a leader and people trust you to lead them to possitive development.
I wish for AIESEC in Iceland to be more organized, for us to deliver what we promise and that our members will get the experience they are looking for and that's why they joined AIESEC.

It's up to us to make sure we do our best to learn, experience and grow and let's make sure all members of AIESEC in Iceland do the same.
I have high hopes for us... and we are the right people to make that happen.

To end this I want to say this:
Ali and Svetla. Thanks for all your support, fun times and challenges we went through as a team. You challenged my thoughts and my believes and I feel I came out of this team work a stronger person then when I joined the team - I hope the same thing for you. All the best in your future tasks and let's stay in touch.

Looking for a leadership experience?

Leaders aren't born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work. And that's the price we'll have to pay to achieve that goal, or any goal.
- Vincent Lombardi –

Dear members.

Thank you for your attendace at the National meeting today.

I hope you are feeling inspired and motivated to take on leadership roles inside AIESEC and that you saw the value you can get out of your time in AIESEC.

If you feel any spark inside to take leadership role - please call me, let's meet over a beer and see what you are interested in, what you want to get out of AIESEC and how you can reach that as well as how you can help AIESEC in Iceland to perform it's best.

I leave these things with you to think and reflect.

In the end I just want to let you know - leadership roles are big responsibilities but they involve a lot of learning for you that will be usefull in the future. So you will be getting more out of participating then you could ever imagine - at least thats my story and my experience.

Looking forward to take the step to the new future of AIESEC in Iceland - where we can make great things happening.

Let's start sharing again :)

well well well..

I do think it's about time to make the blog active again. Kristín did an honest try so lets make an efford to keep good communications up and share thoughts, ideas and experience here again.

I want to remind you all about the National meeting we will be having next Tuesday, 10th April, at 17:00.
The meeting will be held in Reykjavík University, Room 231a ( second floor ) at Ofanleiti 2.

This is a great opportunity for you to hear experience stories from members about their leadership roles and share your thoughts about where you want to head inside AIESEC and what leadership roles and responsibilities are open for members of AIESEC in Iceland to grap.

I encourage you all to come, especially if you are looking for a leadership opportunity inside LC's or the MC. The meeting will give you a good overview of what others have experienced and what you can also get out of your term in AIESEC.

please send an answer to the MC team if you are coming or not. Also if you have any questions.. I really hope to see you all there.

SO looking forward to see you all there :D
